The Research Journal of the EAPC

Palliative Medicine

Palliative Medicine is a highly ranked, peer reviewed scholarly journal, and is the research journal of the EAPC. Palliative Medicine publishes primarily original research and systematically constructed reviews. Other paper types include regular editorials to contextualise and direct the research we publish, case reports to highlight clinical issues where research attention is required, and service evaluations where they are of the highest quality.

People interested in the journal can see the papers we publish here, and find out about how to submit a paper here. The current journal Impact Factor is 3.739. Health Care Sciences & Services 15 out of 102 | Medicine, General & Internal 31 out of 165 | Public, Environmental & Occupational Health (SCIE) 33 out of 193.

Palliative Medicine works hard to make the papers it publishes accessible and relevant.  We have an active social media presence on Twitter (@palliativemedj),  Facebook and Instagram .  Selected papers from each issue are also turned into an accessible podcast, featuring the authors explaining their papers. Podcasts can be subscribed to free of charge on iTunes.

Each year the journal has a call for papers for a special issue on an area of topic interest. Past special issues are collected here, and recent issues have included papers on dementia, health economics, and integrated palliative care. We also curate special collections drawing from recent and classic papers already published in the journal, highlighted by an editorial.  Ideas for topics for these special collections are always welcome. All of our COVID-19 papers are collected together into one place.

Each year the journal also awards a prize to the best paper published in the previous year’s print issues, awarded at the EAPC congress.
