EAPC award for Women in Palliative Care

This award which commenced in 2019 brings greater visibility to the achievements of women in palliative and end-of-life care research, advocacy, and leadership. It aims to bring about more balanced gender representation in clinical, institutional and academic organisations.

Winner 2019

Katherine Sleeman

Katherine was awarded in recognition of her work as part of the Cicely Saunders Institute Athena Swan team, analysing gender bias at palliative care conferences.

The work was published in BMJ Supportive and Palliative Care and was cited by the Scientific Organising committee for the 2019 EAPC World Congress as a motivating factor to ensure gender parity at the 2019 and subsequent conferences.
