One of the goals of the EAPC is to have an open and creative forum for the development and improvement of all aspects of palliative care. The board of the EAPC would like to invite all those working in this field to become involved in EAPC activities.
EAPC taskforces have a fundamental role in order to achieve the EAPC objectives.
Any member of the EAPC can apply to set up an EAPC task force. The EAPC taskforce application has to be approved by the EAPC board of directors. The head office and the board members welcome suggestions or expressions of interest concerning taskforces prior to application in order to discuss the project.
The EAPC can offer the following support:
- Help to find partners (experts) of different countries to participate in the taskforce
- Provide dedicated space on the EAPC website and create the web pages about the taskforce
- Facilitate collaboration with other EAPC taskforces
- Assist with the dissemination of information regarding the taskforces’ activities (e.g via EAPC newsletters, at EAPC congresses)
- Provide support with tools and contacts for surveys and enquiries
- Where appropriate, incorporate the taskforces activities and contributions in EAPC Congresses and events
- Provide free meeting rooms for taskforce meetings at the EAPC Congresses (closed meetings and/or open to the audience)
- Support an application to an official body for funding or endorsement
The following basic rules apply:
- The project title should reflect the content of the project
- The objectives should be clearly stated
- One or two persons within the taskforce must be nominated to be responsible for the task force (chair or coordinator)
- The Board of the EAPC can designate an official liaison person to liaise with the taskforce, who may attend project meetings if required
- The taskforce members should be listed in the application. A core group (steering committee) may run the taskforce and collaborate with a bigger group of experts. The board should be updated on any changes of the group
- Generally a taskforce should have at least 5 members from different countries
- A project summary of not more than one page must be included. Enclosures could be attached but should be kept to a minimum
- A time plan is necessary with defined dates of report of progress. A time limit of no more than three years is advised
- An update on the activities must be delivered twice a year to the EAPC Board (March and September)
- The EAPC board can call on the taskforce chair (coordinator) for information on progress at any time during the project
- A financial plan is necessary. Direct financial support from the EAPC should not be expected. However the Board can help the group to find funding
